Maximum Occupancy: Dave's ESL Cafe

For many English instructors, Dave's ESL Cafe is a safe haven of thoughts, expressions, and information for living abroad. With over a million postings and more than 37,000 registered users - it has become the largest teaching resource for English instructors; overseas.  As the numbers of readers continue to grow, there will always be expected delays.  The most common delay comes from forum registration.  Many who have tried bi-monthly to register for Dave's Cafe have found themselves with this or a similar message:

"New registrations will begin again in Late September."

According to Korea Wikia, the registration process requires readers to send an email with why you'd like to join, as well as some other collective personal information.  Once Dave or his moderators approve of your email, you will have successfully created your account.  But it seems individuals that have gotten this far into the process have been a rare find.

When emailed: asking, Dave's ESL Cafe, when these specific dates of "late September" exactly were, there was no response.

Since 2002, Dave's ESL Cafe has provided a quality of service for all abroad instructors - giving them the useful information they need; not only to teach, but to live as well.  Although the process of information has been delayed for others - for many it is still a vast and vital resource.  But for those who prefer a much more intimate e-community, that still provides helpful information for abroad - there may be alternatives.

Interesting. I've mostly given up on Dave's ESL Cafe. The forums at ELT world ( http://eltworld.net/forums/ ) seem to be better in terms of being less restrictive--Dave's had a nasty habit of deleting posts that were critical of schools who advertise with Dave's. Bleh. But ELT World needs more members, so I hope other people will come over too. No delay on registration that I recall!

I got bumped from Daves. For inactivity I guess although I'm still sorta surprised.

Here, I tried to register. They say 'that email is already in use so.........

They tell me to contact the registrar but how the heck do I do that? I dont' see any links here.

      Best regards,

You might want to try emailing eltworld@eltworld.net and letting them know.

I suppose you could also click the 'forgot password' option and they will email you back your username/password information. In the case that it wasn't you who registered with your email, you'll be able to rightfully claim your registration information; so win win

I was able to get on the fourms. Thanks.....this one and Daves.

Note: I just found something that looks useful. It's called Grouply. It's free. It's used to aggregate 'groups' memberships and emails.

    Best regards,
