Bangkok Thailand: Christopher Neil Trial begins Monday

The accused pedophile Christopher Paul Neil, who eluded Interpol police for years, was arrested October 19, 2007, shortly after fleeing Korea.  Mr. Neil, a Canadian who previously taught in Korea, Cambodia and Thailand, pleaded not guilty a month earlier.  Relatively little is known about Christopher Neil’s condition in Thai prison.  However, his Canadian family says he is adequately provided for, but details are uncertain due to Thai prison censorship.  As of today, The Neil family has not provided money for trial expenses, although they hope that Neil will be adequately represented in court.  Many ESL teachers are watching the situation and hoping that no further English instructors will face the same convictions again.
